Bachelor’s in Germany

Study a Bachelor’s in Germany from India

Germany’s public universities charge no tuition for most Bachelor’s degrees, but a Class 12 certificate on its own does not give direct admission. Most Indian students start with a one-year Studienkolleg.

Course length3 – 4 years
Main intakeOctober (winter semester)
Public tuitionUsually none
Taught inMostly German

01Who can apply

  • Direct admission is possible after one year of related university study in India, or with a qualifying JEE Advanced result.
  • Otherwise: a one-year Studienkolleg (entrance test, German at about B1–B2), then the Feststellungsprüfung, then the university application.

02Language

  • Most Bachelor’s courses are taught in German; English-taught Bachelor’s courses exist but are fewer.
  • Our live German classes cover A1 and A2.

03Fees

  • State universities usually charge no tuition, only a semester contribution of roughly €300; some private and specialised courses charge fees.

04How to apply

  • Apply directly to the university or through uni-assist; check each course’s deadline on its own page.
  • The APS certificate and a blocked account are part of the visa process for Indian students.

Checked October 2026. Rules change from year to year, so we confirm the current requirements for your course during your free counselling session.
