Smart planning
Ways to keep the budget down
- Look beyond Milan and Rome. Padua, Pisa, Turin, Naples and Bari are often cheaper while offering strong universities.
- Apply for DSU. If your family qualifies, the regional grant and canteen meals can cover a large share of living costs. Use the ISEE estimator first.
- Apply early to merit awards. Bocconi and Politecnico awards are decided during the admission rounds, and most are given in the early rounds.
- Book housing carefully. Use university housing offices and avoid paying deposits to anyone you cannot verify.
- Check work rules. Student visa holders can usually work part time within legal limits. Verify the current limit before you count on this income.
